Roulette: The Inside / Outside Bet

Gambling requires intense intellectual ability or in place of that, solid rote memory to win consistently at and even then, it's just not that easy. For some games it's not even a matter of winning but being able to take advantage of an opportunity when it comes along. Texas Hold'em, for example, is about taking advantage of particular tells that you may notice or being able to thoroughly bait people when the cards have given you something to beat them with. In blackjack, this means being able to count cards with amazing accuracy and going for the throat when the count is positive. In other games, such as roulette, they turn to betting patterns or strategies to help them manage their bankroll better. No matter what however, one truth remains constant and that is nothing can truly be predicted when it comes to the games between the casino walls.

Roulette in particular, its iconic wheel recognizable on sight by most people even those who are not frequent visitors, is one filled with betting patterns. Betting in roulette, whether it's American Roulette or Europeaon Roulette where there's a slight discrepancy with the amount of pockets, comes down to predicting where the little white ball will fall. Generally, unless you rigged the table or miraculously found one that has a bias, you have no idea where the ball will land. This has given rise to betting patterns which allow you to bet along a spread, by color, number, kind of number or a combination there of. This is opposed to the standard straight up bet where you bet on a single number. While this is, given the immense odds against it, the most profitable bet, it's by far one of the least used bets among experienced players.

There are generally two kinds of betting patterns - the inside bet and the outside bet. Outside bets take on a generalized bet. An outside bet has been made if the gambler looks for a general bet, such as if the ball will land on a particular color, whether the number will be even and so forth. Inside bets tend to give a range of possible outcomes based on position and not subsequent numbers. The payout for each kind of bet varies, according to the probabilities of course. Generally, the lower the odds of victory, the higher the amount return - like many other casino games that patrons can enjoy.
